Misha was adopted July 26, 2020!
Misha is a calico beauty who has overcome some challenges in her life thus far. She found herself admitted to Devore Shelter in Spring of 2018 when she was about 4 years old. She belonged to someone once and then, for whatever reason, they abandoned her when she needed them the most. You see, Misha was not only concerned for her own future and fate. She was expecting and was also worried for her little ones who had yet to arrive. Mercifully, she was rescued and gave birth to her babies in the safety and security of her foster home. However, when her six beautiful babies were nearly 8 weeks old, they were hit with a feline virus that often proves fatal for kittens. Despite the best veterinary care, only one of Misha’s kittens survived. So it’s understandable that she was a bit wary, shy, and took her time developing trust. She’s been let down by life before.
Initially very timid around people, Misha has realized while in foster care that humans are good – and she’s grown to absolutely adore them. She is still developing confidence and can sometimes resist being picked up, but once she’s in your arms, she begins to purr. Her favorite spot is a chair she claims as her throne. When she steps down from her seat of prestige, she can be found lounging on the ground, asking to be pet. Her favorite spot to be scratched is just above her tail and she lifts her rear in and exaggerated arch begging for you to never stop. Misha would do best as an only kitty so she can continue to grow emotionally. Not that she isn’t wonderful now – she is quite a charmer! She craves human interaction and would love to start her new life with someone who knows her journey and will continue to work with her blossoming confidence.
