Kitty Devore Rescue foster care program is currently full. We are unable to accept new cats or kittens into foster care at present time.

February through August is Kitten Season – every year. April through July are the most challenging months for those who work in rescue. We are inundated with requests to take people’s cats and found cats and kittens daily during this time – often several times a day.

Unfortunately, there are always more animals in need than there are people willing to help them. We do not have a facility. We are not the shelter. We have limited resources. We are a foster based rescue group where cats stay in the homes of Kitty Devore Rescue foster members. Our foster placement openings are limited.

Formed in December, 2011, Kitty Devore Rescue is an all-volunteer Southern California area nonprofit charity and 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue group whose sole mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the cats admitted to Devore Animal Shelter in San Bernardino, CA, as well as cats who are within Devore Shelter’s jurisdiction and who are at risk of being surrendered there.

When we started, only an average of 8 to 10 cats out of every 100 admitted made it out of Devore Animal Shelter alive. Now, 6 years later and thanks to our efforts, the efforts of our rescue partners and other non-affiliated rescue groups who joined the mission, the save rate for cats admitted to Devore is approximately 90%.

Most Kitty Devore Rescue members have full time jobs, families, homes to manage and other life endeavors that pull at us constantly and yet, every day, we still find the time to devote ourselves to working out rescue plans to save these kitties – because there’s not a day that goes by that another cat – and often several – is admitted to the shelter. No member of the team is paid a single penny. All our fundraising goes directly to the cats we save. It’s not easy work. Every day is a challenge to save these kitties. But for each Kitty Devore Rescue member, it’s truly a labor of love, determination and, for many of us, a vocation.

We do not have a facility. All the cats taken into Kitty Devore Rescue’s foster care program reside in the homes of our foster guardian members located in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties as well as Seattle, WA, until they are adopted. The number of foster homes is limited as there are always more animals in need than there are people willing to help them. We do our best with what we have and have to give. Join us!

If you are a SoCal based 501c3 rescue group and would like to join the Kitty Devore Rescue Network to help save the Devore cats, fill out a rescue partner application with us! We help with pulling, transport and temporary fostering.

We are not Animal Control and are unable to visit homes to round up or trap stray cats.
