Lucky Ducky – Adopted!

Lucky Ducky was adopted September 2, 2021!

Lucky Ducky found his way to Kitty Devore Rescue in early 2021 after his former owners determined they could no longer care for him. He was approximately 4 years old at the time of his surrender. He is a flame point Sphynx and only applicants who have experience with the breed will be considered as potential applicants.

Lucky Ducky is like most Sphynx cats – bold, fearless, and endlessly affectionate. He has personality for days! He’s a roller coaster of fun and mischievous antics. He’s definitely a man’s man – preferring the company of men… but will tolerate women. He enjoys perching himself on shoulders, going for harnessed walks, rides in the car, and the cat stroller. At night, he’ll either lick or paw at your face, indicating he’d like you to lift the blanket and allow him to sleep on your chest. Should you disrupt his comfort, he is likely to growl at you – but he’s all talk.

As a Sphynx, Lucky Ducky requires a bath twice a month. His nails, face, ears, and rear end must be cleaned often. Because he has no fur to absorb his bodily oils, the oil can leave traces on surfaces and fabrics. Sunlight can burn his delicate skin but he doesn’t mind being dressed in shirts and sweaters. If you’re looking for a baby to groom and spoil, he’s absolutely receptive to this kind of pampered treatment. Lucky is a bit needy but the love he’ll bestow upon you matches the intensity of his demands. He loves being picked up, held in your arms, and showered with kisses. He’ll even kiss you back!

If Lucky Ducky sounds like your dream guy and you have firsthand experience with the breed, don’t hesitate to apply to adopt this sweet and wonderful boy today!

Please note that, due to his unique breed, we will be handling Lucky Ducky‘s adoption applications differently than we normally would for kitties in our foster care program. Rather than “first-come, first-served”, we will be holding an open application period with a cut-off date of August 1st, 2021. Applicants must be from Southern California. We will not consider out-of-state applicants. On August 1, 2021, all submitted applications will be reviewed and the top three applicants will be contacted to schedule a Meet and Greet with Lucky Ducky and his foster family. The applicant Lucky Ducky‘s foster mom determines to be the best fit will be the applicant chosen to adopt his amazing guy.

Lucky Ducky is a purebred sphynx but his previous owner did not supply us with official papers. Because he is a specific breed of kitty, which is unusual for our rescue group, his adoption fee is $300.00. Once in our care, he was re-vetted. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, has tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and has had all observable and discoverable health issues addressed by one of our amazing veterinarians.

Our Kitties Have It All!

Kitty Devore Rescue commits itself to rescuing responsibly.

We hold ourselves to a high standard of care regarding the kitties in our foster care program. Each Kitty Devore Rescue kitty undergoes a comprehensive vetting and post-shelter rehabilitation process before we consider them ready for adoption.

Some rescue groups and shelters offer kitties for adoption for an adoption donation less than ours. Still, they may include fewer vetting procedures that we consider necessary to ensure a kitty’s optimal health. Some offer adoptable kitties who have had no vetting procedures at all.

“Free to a good home” kitties are not necessarily free to adopters. Responsible pet parents who care about the vital and necessary health procedures every kitty needs to ensure good health will find their out-of-pocket costs looking something like this:

Spay/Neuter – $80.00 to $200.00+

FeLV and FIV Testing – $40.00 to $80.00

FVRCP Vaccine(s) – $15.00 to $40.00 per vaccine (kittens need a series of 3 for optimal immunization)

Rabies Vaccine – $15.00 to $40.00

Microchip – $25.00 to $50.00

Flea/Earmite Treatment – $20.00 to $30.00 per monthly dose

Deworming – $15.00 to $30.00

Exam fee each vet visit – $40.00 to $80.00

Total: $250.00 to $550.00

•

These are just the basics.

Most veterinarians charge somewhere within these price ranges for these standard and essential procedures.

Kitty Devore Rescue kitties undergo basics and, in some cases, even more! Kitties in Kitty Devore Rescue foster care needing dental, medical, or surgical intervention receive immediate and quality veterinary attention and treatment. We address all observable and discoverable health issues – both internal and external. If there is an issue, we address it – even if that issue costs us thousands to treat and correct.

Once adopted, we provide our adopters with complete veterinary records and the history of their newly adopted KD kitty while in our foster care program. Additionally, we relay information about the microchip transfer* and an adoption box containing toys and treats for their new feline family member by USPS mail within three weeks of the official adoption date.

We refund 100% of the adoption donation if things don’t work out within the first 30 days of the adoption date. Even after 30 days, we always welcome previously adopted Kitty Devore kitties back into our foster care program, remaining their safety net for their lifetime.

And yet, our minimum adoption donation requested per adoptable cat or kitten stands at a flat $200.00 and $375.00 if you adopt two!

So, if you’re looking to adopt a new feline family member and friend, what are you waiting for? Apply to adopt a Kitty Devore Rescue kitty today!

* We transfer the microchip registration to our Kitty Devore adopters 30 days from the official adoption date.
