Jeremiah has an interesting rescue story. He was rescued from Devore Shelter by the Kitty Devore Rescue team back in October of 2013 and adopted not long thereafter. However, in 2017, we received a call from Hesperia Animal Shelter saying they had a kitty with a microchip that routed back to us in their care. We arranged to get him out immediately and back into our foster care program. When originally rescued, he was estimated to be about 3 years old. Now 7, he was in such poor shape that he looked more to be in his teens! Poor Jeremiah was so thin and malnourished that we got him to one of our vets right away. Apparently he’d been fending for himself outside for a long while – which was all the more disconcerting because his front paws had been removed prior to his admittance and first rescue from Devore. Without claws, he had no way to defend himself outdoors.
Thankfully, what he needed most was a steady and regular diet to fatten him up again. However, his teeth were in poor shape so, before that could happen, Jeremiah needed dental surgery. Once he had this done, he was pain free and began eating without issue and putting on weight.
Jeremiah is very talkative and enjoys telling people all about his day. After all he’s encountered thus far in life, he’s a very confident fellow – and for that reason, he doesn’t take kindly to challenges from other dominant kitties. He’s a mellow soul and does actually get along well with other cats – as long as they’re easy-going like himself.
Jeremiah was adopted April 28, 2018!
