Hiwa was adopted August 24, 2020!
Aloha! Meet Hiwa! “Hiwa” is Hawaiian for precious, beloved, esteemed and jet black – and this black panther sweetheart definitely lives up to her name. Although she can be a little shy at first, once she gets to know you she’s the sweetest girl who loves to be pet, loves to cuddle and will definitely sing you the song of her people when she wants your attention. At the time of her rescue from Devore Shelter in May of 2020, she was estimated to be around a year old, so she developed into a lovely young lady but still has plenty of playful kitten energy abounding and a long life ahead of her.
Hiwa is a loving soul who loves people and does get along well with other kitties. We’re not sure how well she’d do with younger children as she’s wary of sudden movements and rambunctious energy in the home.
Her preference is a calm and serene environment – just like her nature. She has not experienced interactions with dogs so she’d probably be happiest in a home with older children, adults and cats only. Although she doesn’t like being picked up or carried around, she does relish snuggling up with you in your bed and keeping you company at night and in the early morning hours.
She also enjoys being brushed if you’re so inclined. She’s got a healthy appetite and really enjoys treats – especially purees!
A ‘o ia! That’s Hiwa in a coconut shell! If you’d love to make her an ohana of your family, fill out an adoption application for this sweet little wahine today!
