Meet Gingersnap – The Sweetheart Who Found Her Way Home Again.

Once upon a time, a tiny orange and white kitten named Gingersnap was rescued from Devore Animal Shelter in 2013 and adopted through Kitty Devore Rescue into what we thought would be her forever home. For twelve beautiful years, she lived a cherished life — loved, adored, and part of a family. Then, in August 2025, we received a call from the San Diego Humane Society. They had a stray cat with a microchip registered to us. When we checked the number, our hearts caught in our throats — it was Gingersnap! Still radiant. Still gentle. Still her same sweet self.

Her adopter later shared that life had changed — her son’s allergies and a move to a no-pet home forced her to find Gingersnap what she hoped would be another loving family. But somewhere along the way, Gingersnap was either let outside or slipped away, trying to make her way back to the only home she’d ever known. Thankfully, SDHS found her, and we gladly brought her back into the KD family. After a full senior wellness exam and blood panel, we’re overjoyed to report that she’s in excellent health and ready for the next chapter of her life.

Now 12 years young, Gingersnap still glows with affection and grace. She adores people and seeks connection — the soft touch of a hand, a warm lap, the steady presence of someone who loves her back. Having spent most of her life as an only cat, she’d prefer to reign as the queen of her new home. We will only consider adopting her into a family with no other kitties, as this will enable her to thrive. We want nothing more than to see this resilient, loving girl spend her golden years wrapped in comfort and care. If her story touches your heart, please fill out an adoption application today.
