Dodie was rescued from Devore Shelter by the Kitty Devore Rescue team in December of 2014. This pretty tabby girl was estimated to be about 2 years old at the time.
Originally fostered in a rambunctious household filled with young children, other cats and a couple dogs thrown in the mix, Dodie spent much of her time hiding in closets and under beds to experience a sense of peace and quiet. The flurry of activity was overwhelming for her and it was clear to us she definitely needed a different kind of environment that would allow her to feel safe and secure without having to run for cover and hide.
Later, when she went to stay with a foster parent who had no other kitties in the home, we saw this reticent little girl blossom. She became playful and sought attention from her foster dad constantly. She looked forward to his return home when he was out for the day. She would greet him at the door when he arrived. Thus, Dodie would definitely do best in a home with either one other or no other kitties with whom she’d need to share the spotlight. We suspect she’d also prefer adults only rather than a home filled with children.
It may take her a little while to trust enough to come out of her shell but once she does, watch out! This girl will become your new best friend. She’s incredibly affectionate and high on personality when she feels safe and develops trust with her humans.
