Artimus was adopted Thursday, March 23, 2023!
In the sweltering month of July 2022, a 5-month-old kitten with a coat the color of sun and snow found his way into the deliberately chilled cat room of Devore Shelter. While able to beat the heat, Artimus soon discovered that escape back outdoors was impossible, so he appealed to every shelter staff member and visitor who passed his kennel for help. We responded, and before the month concluded, Artimus experienced freedom again.
Like the Greek goddess of the hunt and protectress of wildlife that inspired his name, Artimus presents himself as a self-determined and independent cat. He’s handsome, young, and spirited. With boundless energy and a winning personality, he easily endears himself to humans and other cats, yet he appreciates his solitary pleasures and “me time,” too. Still, once Artimus decides he likes you, know that he will be your best buddy for life. Good-natured, carefree, yet loyal, Artimus doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Fair warning, he does seek out countertop napping spots and will move items to make ample space for himself. Sometimes he determines those new spots are on the floor. He also appreciates lounging in the cool basins of dry bathroom sinks. We highly recommend a kitty tree and window perches!
Artimus has realized that temperature-controlled indoor life is more to his liking. He seeks a home with balanced people who enjoy activity and bustle but also take their rest time seriously. If you believe you’re the kind of companion Artimus seeks, apply to adopt him today!
