When in the presence of Joie now, you’d never guess two KD foster parents found her and her brother Shahdow and sister Moon the Chimera hovering near an apartment complex dumpster on a chilly October night in 2023 when they were just two months old. With crusted eyes, sniffling noses, and starving bellies, each struggled to survive their unfriendly environment. Thankfully, their rescuers didn’t hesitate to scoop them up and bring them indoors where they’d be safe and fed. Still, because the babies were in such dire condition, their new guardians worried they might not persevere. Later, when they shuttled the kittens to our vet, he diagnosed them with severe upper respiratory infections, a bad case of ringworm, and critical malnourishment.
Love and care can work wonders and make all the difference to needy kitties. Combined with Joie‘s will to survive, she and her siblings gradually recovered, growing stronger and healthier each week. Joie‘s spirit glows exceptionally bright and vibrant. At only a few months old and despite not feeling her best, Joie frequently clambered onto her human caregivers, seeking love and affection. She also demonstrated an enduring curiosity about the world around her. As she’s grown, her playful spirit and affectionate nature have become two of her most defining features. Her foster parents attest that Joie‘s purrs and cuddles make life much brighter. Of course, like many kitties, Churu treats motivate her, but she genuinely adores lounging with her people and other kitties in her midst. She jumps at the opportunity to make new kitty friends, too, but pups make her a bit anxious, so we believe she’d thrive best in a dog-free home.
Joseph Campbell famously said, “Follow your bliss,” but if you had Joie ever-present, there would be no need for the quest. She is happiness in motion wherever she goes and freely bestows it upon everyone she meets.
