Meet Zetty and Murphie!! These two are the best mother-daughter pair you’ll ever meet!! As their foster mom, I may be a bit biased, but I’ve spent a lot of time with a lot of kitties, and these two girls are some of the most consistently loving kitties I’ve ever met. Murph was literally born into my hands, so she’s used to being held and coddled. She loves to be carried around, played with, snuggled, and kissed on the face. She actually gets upset with us when we try to put her down in the morning! She gets her amazing personality from her momma, Zetty. Zetty has been through a lot, so she can be a bit shy, but she really is just so loving. She’s learned to want to snuggle and to want to be with her people. I seriously kiss her face allll the time, and she’s learned to love the attention.
The back story: Zetty was dropped at the Devore Animal Shelter as a young kitty (about 10 months old). She was quite pregnant with a litter at the time. Unfortunately, she also got very sick from exposure to illness at the shelter. Zetty was deathly ill while being about 2 weeks away from giving birth. A vet gave her a steroid injection and started her on strong meds to help save her life. This unfortunately caused a partial miscarriage and was at risk of hurting or killing the kittens in her belly. Two kittens didn’t survive after the steroid shot. At the time that she went into labor, she had 2 kittens left. The first became stuck for an hour and a half and unfortunately didn’t survive. After over 90 minutes of struggling with the first kitten, Murphie popped out in less than 5 minutes! Zetty was exhausted but very protective of her baby. The only problem was that she had been so sick (she was finally healthy at this time) that her body hadn’t produced any milk. Murphie was bottle fed for the first 36 hours of her life until mama produced milk. At this time, we didn’t know if Murphie would be okay after all of the meds that mama had been on, so we doted on her, coddled, her, and checked in on the pair ALL THE TIME. As it turned out, Murphie was the total opposite of our fears – she was a *miracle*! This little kitten grew like a weed and nearly doubled every single milestone. She was HUGE! Once she finally reached around 3 months old, her size leveled out. She became the cutest and daintiest little girl. She and Zetty almost never meow. I think I’ve heard it only a couple of times. They both chirp and trill! They’re total talkers, especially when they want something! Heaven forbid you get a fly in the room (fyi, it’s HILARIOUS). These girls have been through so much that it would be almost cruel to split them. Mama still grooms Murph at night, and the two snuggle and play together all day long. They’re sweet, quirky, and fun, and it has been an absolute blessing to have been able to foster them. They will absolutely be the perfect addition to a loving home!!
